Accommodations and Transportation

April 5th and 6th, 2024

Planet Word Museum, Washington, DC

We hope you'll join us for our 2024 in-person Color Vowel® Conference!

With educators from all over the world, we'll foster community as we share ideas, strategies, and activities that promote the goals of accent equity and mutual comprehensibility through Color Vowel® principles of teaching.

Important Note

Make Housing Reservations Early!

Washington, DC is a very popular tourist destination and hotels fill up fast. The weekend of our conference falls in the middle of the annual DC Cherry Blossom Festival and during Spring Break for many school districts all over the U.S. Don't delay in making your travel arrangements and hotel reservations as availability may be limited.

Accommodations

Hotel Information

The Planet Word museum in downtown Washington, DC is the site of the 2024 Color Vowel® Conference.

If you're coming in from out of town, we've made a list of places to stay that we feel are affordable, convenient, and safe.

You can always search on your own to find other accommodations. We recommend using travel sites like Travel Advisor or Expedia to research your options and to get better rates. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about visiting the DC metropolitan area.

Eaton DC is across K Street from the museum and is offering discounted rates for conference attendees. Only Eaton DC is offering special conference lodging rates. To receive a 20% discount, enter the promo code planet when you make your reservation. These rates are available until March 15, 2024 or until the room block sells out, whichever comes first.

There are, of course, other hotels in DC, but they do tend to be more expensive than those in the outlying suburbs. We do not have any recommendations to make for other hotels in the District at this time.

If you do not wish to stay in DC, there are many possibilities for accommodations in neighboring Virginia and Maryland. We have made a list of just a few of the many hotels in the DC metropolitan area that are affordable and within 30 minutes of the conference site.

Please note that the hotels in Silver Spring, Maryland will require more travel time than the sites in Virginia. Traveling from Silver Spring on Metro will require you to change to the Blue or Orange Lines at Metro Center or exit at Metro Center and walk a little further than if you exit at McPherson Square.
